Prior to his 15 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, Ben spent seven years designing and making furniture. Ben’s diverse background, including three undergraduate years of biomedical/physical chemistry study, informs his designs: he creates structures as if they were living organisms, focusing on the life within the building and how it affects the surrounding environment.
Ben has been the lead designer and project architect on a multitude of project typologies, including laboratory, commercial office, industrial, retail and institutional buildings; teaching facilities; LEED certified structures; and single/multi-family residential projects. Ben’s assertion that no two projects can be looked at with the same eye affords him a distinctive open-minded approach, considerate both of the users and the owners, as well as the environment.
Whether camping, fishing and mountain biking throughout the summer or skiing as much as possible during the winter, Ben loves spending time with his family and dog, Dexter. The official Bechtle Architects mascot, Dexter happily accepts his salary in dog bones.
