Forman Wineries is a small boutique and high end winery in St. Helena, California. Rick wanted to expand and update his residence to connect the inside to the outside experience, blurring the line between living space and hillside vineyards.
The shed roof design emphasizes the view to the vineyards and accordion window walls open the building to the outside patios when weather is appropriate. The kitchen is designed for entertaining large groups during social gatherings, while a custom banquette fosters intimate private dining for the couple.
An office addition in an existing barn structure supports public access and tastings. To create more privacy for the residence, a courtyard and formal entry door was added to better define the lines of public and private living spaces.
